Lima
Our trip was planned around a highlight Peruvian destination, Machu Picchu, the lost city of the Incas. Lima was a necessary stop on the way there. It's a city of around 8 million people with a few pretty nice districts, Miraflores and San Isidro among them. But in the end, it's a big city with many big city challenges. I didn't actually enjoy Lima very much. Partly it was because we spent a little bit too much time here. And partly it's because I had some bad food and spent 12 very sick hours getting rid of it.
Still, it is picturesque with an interesting mix of Spanish architectures, and a rich culture heavily influenced by the Incas. As I look at the pictures below, the not-so-good stuff seems to fade and my best memories of the city return. Remember, you can click on any of the photos to expand them.
