Pedraza
20 Minutes East of Segovia or 1 hour North of Madrid lies the charming village of Pedraza. This walled village is a virtual museum of classic Spanish life, which comes to life on the weekends as people from Madrid and Segovia make the trip to enjoy a traditional meal of roast meats. If you go on the weekend, plan to arrive before noon to avoid a long walk from your car to the village.
At one end of the city lies the Castle, at the other end a 14th century prison (now a museum) and in between an engaging Plaza Mayor. Many of the shops have been modernized, preserving their old world charm, and sell antiques. These pictures were taken on a cold, clear December day in 1999. Being high in the mountains, on a winter day, the quality of the sunlight was extraordinary ... a very bright, white sun.
