Blenheim Palace 2001
Just next to the town of Woodstock, lies Blenheim Palace. In 1704, John Churchill, the first duke of Marlborough, beat the French at the Battle of Blenheim. The king of England built him this "house" and the long line of Dukes of Marlborough have lived here ever since. And this would include the 12th Duke who lives here today.
Winston Churchill was born here in the palace in 1874, and there's an interesting Churchill exhibit. One of the most interesting aspects of the exhibit is a series of letters from young Winston to his father, which give us some insight into the boy who would become Sir Winston, Prime Minister of England during the 2nd World War.
Surrounding the palace is a 2,000 acre park which may be as beautiful and interesting as the palace itself.
These were taken in 2001.
