Zadar, Croatia

This was a plaque along the waterfront. In Croatian it translates to: "City of Zadar - Greetings to the Sun." It was near a neat astronomical park with representations of the planets, the zodiac set in the paving.

Walking along the seawall. This was November and the Seattle-like weather was in the 50's and 60's during the day, 40's at night. We missed the "cruise ship season" and often had the places we visited pretty much to ourselves.

As we drove into town, many streets were lined with candles and walking about town, this square had many on the base of this pillar. I don't recall the occasion.

When I travel, I like looking at store front window displays. I find them interesting, sometimes giving clues to the culture (e.g. fashion). I liked this one especially for its visual appeal. Left little doubt what they sold.

On the road from Zagreb to Zadar, we stopped at a rest area with a bar/restaurant accompanying the normal fuel stop stuff. In the bar was this coin-operated breathalyzer. Translation: "For the accuracy of the results wait 15 minutes after alcohol consumption. Insert a coin, take a straw, blow a beep for no more than 3 seconds." I don't know what blow a beep is, maybe idiosyncratic for something.
