Šibernik, Croatia

Croatia is nearly the same latitude as Seattle and being on the Adriatic, the weather is similar to the weather of Seattle near Puget Sound. I love stormy dramatic skies.

Šibernik harbor.

Peter Krešimir IV, called the Great was King of Croatia and Dalmatia from 1058 or 1059 until his death in 1074 or 1075. He was the last great ruler of the Krešimirović branch of the Trpimirović dynasty.

When I travel, I like looking at store front window displays. I find them interesting, sometimes giving clues to the culture (e.g. fashion). I think this would go over well in Seattle - wild, foraged, distilled - Islay dry gin. It is one of two gins made on Islay, and is distinctive for its addition to the nine customary gin aromatics of a further 22 locally picked wild Islay botanicals. Looks like they also serve coffee.

Another thing I enjoy seeing in our travels is signs - often with color and style I'm unaccustomed to. Like this one.

Another thing I find interesting when I travel is cemeteries. Burial customs, and in general reverence for the dead vary widely from country to country and region to region of the world. This one overlooked the Adriatic and had some of the best views of the sea in all of Šibernik.
