Hurricane Ridge 2011.01.01
On New Year's Day, my daughter, son-in-law and I arose before dawn and drove three hours to Hurricane Ridge - Near Port Angeles, Washington for a day of snowshoeing. Weather was warm - around freezing, wind was calm, and the sun was bright. Fun Fun Fun.
They don't call this Hurricane Ridge for nothing. The ridge is several thousand feet above the Straights of Juan de Fuca and often experiences hurricane strength winds. When it's snowing at the same time, the wind drives the snow into trees forming fantastic sculpted shapes.
